The NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is the only board that offers On Demand Examination (ODE). This allows students the flexibility to choose their subject, date of exam, the center of the exam to pass the secondary (class 10th) and senior secondary (class 12th) board exam. The On Demand Examination System (ODES) is an innovative initiative of the NIOS board which facilitates the students to appear in an examination for a selected subject of their choice which they were unable to clear from other board. Through On Demand Examination students save a precious year of their education.
The NIOS is the only board which conducts ODE almost every day, during the month of June-September and December-March. The students have a choice to appear under the ODES at the secondary and senior secondary levels in which they are fail in their previous board exam. A student under ODE can select the desired available dates to give the exam at the desired exam center across the country. The registration process of NIOS On Demand Examination is online and transparent. The students can register themselves for ODE on the NIOS portal (http://sdmis.nios.ac.in/).
Selection of the desired subject, exam center (based on the availability of seats) and the date of the examination is a real-time process. This process enables the students to book and re-book the seats for their examination. For the fair conduct of the examination and to avoid cases impersonation, the NIOS board has introduced a QR-code based hall ticket.
Result Declaration and Data Security in Exams
The result of the On Demand Examination is declare within 45 days from the examination date of every exam month. About 75,000 students register themselves annually for the ODE and are certified in the subject of their choice. Data security is the key to the NIOS On Demand Examination program. The personal data in the database is masked and stored in an encrypted format. All financial transactions are done online through the payment gateways linked with Secure Socket Layers (SSL). To facilitate the students, Common Service Centers (CSC) are authorize. CSC assists the students in the process of online form-filling and payments through the CSC wallet. This helps the students to avoid any inconvenience.
NIOS board is recognized by the government of India. It is important to note that no NIOS student can be ban from taking any examination of secondary and senior secondary certificates of NIOS. The NIOS evaluates the students more vigorously than any other formal board. NIOS exams test the students from the syllabus of both class 11th and class 12th as compared to the other formal boards which test only from class 12th.
