NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) conducts On Demand Examination (ODE) for the students who fail in their board exams. Students who have failed in their class 10th or class 12th exam, or who have never appeared for their board exams can directly appear in On Demand Examination provided by NIOS. Any students who have failed in class 10th or class 12th exam in one or more than one subject can take up On-Demand Examination. The NIOS conducts ODE every month except April/May and November/October, which means ODE is conducted in total 8 months. These exams are conducted in the different center in these 8 months.
About On Demand Examination:
Those students who have failed even in one subject have to compulsorily give exams at least of three subjects. The marks of these 2 extra subjects will be included in the mark sheet along with the marks of the three subjects which the student has given through NIOS board. Marks of the 2 subjects which the student has already pass in his/her previous board exam are add to the credit of NIOS. The student has the freedom to choose the other two subjects apart from the one in which the student has failed. In On Demand Examination, a unique set of question paper is generate randomly by the computer on the examination day. Question papers are generate on the basis of question bank provided by NIOS and the blueprint of the subject. The question paper is unique for each student.
In the regular board exams like CBSE, ICSE etc. if any student has scored less marks and not eligible for getting admission in any good college or university. So, in this case, the student can also give NIOS On Demand Examination. Also if the student has got less marks in their practical exam and because of that the student has not been able to achieve a target of 50% can also give this On Demand Examination and make themselves eligible for better prospects and take admissions in the college or university of their choice.
Schedule of On Demand Examination:
NIOS conducts On Demand Examination for both the theory and practical exams. The basic concept of NIOS On Demand Examination is that the Students registered with NIOS can walk into the examination centre as and when they feel ready for the examination. At present, NIOS conducts the On Demand Examination at NIOS Head Quarter at NOIDA and at its Regional Centres or Sub Centres. NIOS conducts On Demand Examination every month except April/May and October/November. Examination Days for theory paper are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (For Regional Centres) and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday for HQ NOIDA. Practical exams are scheduled on every Friday or Saturday on weekly basis. Students can give On Demand Examination countless times. There is no limit to the number of times for appearing in On Demand Examination.
Student knows the time-table of theory exam when the form of ODE is duly fill and submit to the NIOS. Practical exams are conduct 2 or 4 times in a month depending on the rules of the centre. The time-table for practical exams are provide during the theory exam. The student does not know about the date of practical before the theory exam. But in general, the practical exams are conduct in the same week as that of the theory exam. After calculating both the marks of theory exam and practical exam and due processing, the On-Demand Examination result will be declare and publish through NIOS website during the last week of every month for the examination conducts during the last month. The results of On-Demand Examination are generally declaring after 45-60 days after both the theory and practical exam.
