Many students have a question in their mind about which board is better NIOS board or CBSE board for them or from which board they should pass the exam to achieve success in their life. It is totally up to the students and their parents to decide which board they will prefer for study. But before taking a decision, we should be clear about both boards.
CBSE Board
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) is a regular study board and the student those are enrolled in CBSE board has to attend their classes regularly at their school. The CBSE board has a structural syllabus. All national entrance examinations like IIT, AIPMT, NET, CAT etc. are conducts as per this syllabus. CBSE board conducts their final examinations (board exams) for Class 10th and 12th every year in the month of March. The results are announce by the end of May.
NIOS Board
NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) is constituted under the ministry of HRD (Human Resource Development), Government of India. NIOS is based on an “Open School” concept, it is specially constituted for the failed students of other recognized boards such as CBSE or ICSE who can reappear in their board exams and pass their class 10 or class 12. NIOS board is equivalent to CBSE board. Students who have passed their secondary or senior secondary with NIOS board can apply to any university for further studies.
Reasons:
- CBSE board is regular schooling board in which students have to attend their classes regularly at their school. Unlike CBSE, NIOS is an open schooling system in which you don’t have to go to the institute to attend the classes.
- CBSE board have their structured syllabus in which you can’t select subjects that you desire. For example, you have to choose either science or commerce. But in NIOS it is possible to take both science and commerce as your subjects.
- CBSE board conducts their final examinations every year in the month of March while NIOS conducts its examination twice every year in April-May and October-November.
- NIOS also conducts On-Demand Examination (ODE), which helps the students to take up the improvement exams as per their wish and preparation. These exams are conducts every month.
- NIOS Board helps students who preparing various competitive exams like IIT, JEE, AIEEE, PMT simultaneously with their academic courses.
- One of the main advantages of NIOS over CBSE is that it saves a year in your education which can be ruin in that board exam of your previous board which you fail earlier.
- NIOS also provide ICT and Media support to their students so that students can download study materials, previous years question papers, Identity cards, mark sheets, certificates, and also they can get all details about NIOS registration and examination schedules.
- NIOS also provide an option of choosing Vocational Courses with Academic Courses. Vocational Courses are specific and job-focused. They are design to help the learner to gain knowledge in a practical way about a specific job area. They can help you get the skills you need to start a job, progress in a career or go on to higher education.
- The fee structure of CBSE board is high that means it is very pricey with compare to the NIOS board.
- CBSE board exams are bit complex, there are chances of failure if you are not prepare for the exam. In NIOS, chances of failure are less, as you can give exams when you are prepare as per your convenience.
